Nano Tank 01 – Day One
Nano Tanks seem to be the rave right now. I decided to try a couple out. This is my first attempt at an unsoiled planted nano tank. So, far it is not going so well.
I started with this 3-gallon nano tank. I am not sure but will have to check. I believe it is a Top Fin tank from PetSmart. This was formally my wife’s tank but she didn’t like the way it evaporated quickly since it is not sealed completely around the top. It comes with a glass top, but I have removed, maybe broken, it to install a grow light above the tank. It has a self-contained filter with an activated carbon cartridge which seems to be doing well with mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration.
Currently, this nano tank has a least a half dozen ghost shrimp, 2 mystery snails, 3 otocinclus, 4 platys or mollies of some variety, and a betta. I am not sure of the rooted plants I currently have in the tank since I just bought a couple of plant packs from PetCo. I also have some duckweed and Salvinia Minima which I purchased from Windy City Aquariums on eBay. There is also an Eco-Stone to help with biological filtration with an airstone beneath it.
I will take the three view images every day and post them in the gallery. Hopefully, there will be time to add a post for each set of images. Eventually, if things go well I will be adding youtube videos as well.
That is a really good tip especially to those new to the
blogosphere.
Simple but very accurate info? Thanks for sharing this one.

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you could do with some pics to drive the
message home a bit, but instead of that, this is great blog.
A fantastic read. I’ll definitely be back.
